About TerraBrains

Geotechnical engineering deservesaudit-grade software.

TerraBrains is an independent, founder-led project rebuilding the operating system for geotech from first principles. Every record signed. Every claim cited. Every artefact hashed to the previous one.

Mission · 01

Move geotechnical risk into a system that remembers.

Ground risk is the most consequential decision on most civil projects. The software that supports it is still spreadsheets, emailed PDFs, and folder hierarchies named “FINAL-FINAL-v3”. TerraBrains exists to make that acceptable to nobody — engineer, director, or client.

What we believe · 02

Four convictions we will not compromise.

01

Every artefact must be signed and chained.

A geotechnical record without a signature and a hash is a draft, not a record. We refuse to ship anything to a client that cannot be re-verified independently a decade from now.

02

AI assists. The engineer signs.

We use AI to remove the typing — drafting, citing, classifying. We do not use it to remove the engineer. Every claim cites a numbered source, and the human seal is the only thing that closes the loop.

03

Offline is not a feature. It is the baseline.

Field work happens where the connectivity does not. Our field stack is offline-first by design — local SQLite and a durable outbox that replays every edit in order, so no data is lost when the signal drops or the rig moves.

04

Audit chain over compliance theatre.

Compliance badges expire. Hash chains do not. We invest in mathematics that a regulator, an insurer, or a court can verify themselves — and we publish how it works.

Why we built this · 03

Because the alternative was unforgivable.

The dominant geotechnical tools were architected in 2005. They assume a desktop workstation, a single jurisdiction, and a senior engineer with time to copy rows between Word and Excel. None of those assumptions hold today. Projects span continents, juniors carry the rig, and the report has to stand up in court a decade later.

We believe a modern AI stack — when grounded in the actual log and the actual lab result — can give a junior engineer the leverage of a senior one. Not the judgement. Never the judgement. But the typing, the cross-referencing, the citation chase. That work should be done in seconds, not afternoons. And the audit chain should make sure the engineer’s sign-off is the one thing that really counts.

Who we are · 04

Founder-led. Early-stage. Geotech-native.

TerraBrains is an independent, founder-led project — built by Vinay and a small team, working alongside practising geotechnical engineers to get the numbers right. We talk directly with every early-access user and ship in the open. We are not posturing as a household name or a big team — we are choosing depth over headcount until the product is one that engineers actually trust with their seal.
